How It Works

Three steps, start to result.

  1. 01 Blood-based

    Detect

Measure full panels of disease-specific biomarkers from blood samples at extremely low concentrations.

  2. 02 350 / run

    Scale

Compatible with 96- and 384-well plates, allowing processing of up to 350 samples per run.

  3. 03 < 4 hrs

FAQ

Questions labs ask us.

01

What is Protein-PCR™?

Protein-PCR™ is AperionDx's protein detection technology. It measures protein biomarkers using the qPCR instruments laboratories already own, creating a global protein-measurement network with minimal setup, no new hardware and easy rollout.

02

Do I need to buy new instruments to run it?

No. Protein-PCR™ runs on widely available qPCR systems, and no proprietary hardware is required.

03

Which biomarkers can it detect?

The Alzheimer's disease panel detects Aβ40, Aβ42, pTau181 and pTau217. The traumatic brain injury panel detects GFAP, ALDOC, NGRN, BDNF and ST2.

04

What sample type does it use?

Blood. Protein-PCR™ measures full panels of disease-specific biomarkers from blood samples at extremely low concentrations.

05

How does performance compare with existing methods?

Both panels show greater than 97.5% PPA/NPA — the Alzheimer's panel versus Simoa®/ELISA, and the traumatic brain injury panel in agreement with established methods.

06

What is the turnaround time?

Under four hours.

07

How many samples can be processed per run?

Up to 350 samples per run. Protein-PCR™ is compatible with both 96- and 384-well plates.

08

How early can Alzheimer's risk be identified?

The Alzheimer's panel can identify risk 15–20 years before clinical symptoms.

09

Does it replace imaging or cerebrospinal fluid testing?

No. Protein-PCR™ is designed to complement imaging and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) assays.

10

Can it be used in hospitals and clinics?

Use in hospitals and clinics is pending regulatory review. Protein-PCR™ currently serves research labs, biotech companies, drug development and the pharmaceutical industry.
